Elon Musk Pays $1 Million a Day To Get Swing-State Voters To Sign Petitions.
(VOR News) – Elon Musk stated on Saturday that he would randomly award $1 million to registered voters who sign a petition for his pro-Trump political action group to encourage his followers in swing states to vote.
“I have a surprise for you,” Elon Musk told an America PAC in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He added that reward money is available “every day from now until the election.”
Musk called John Dreher, a petition signatory he claimed to be in-person, and gave him a large payment. Tesla’s over $250 billionaire CEO said, “I think it’s kind of fun, and you know, it seems like a good use of money basically.”
Elon Musk, CEO of social networking platform X and military contractor SpaceX, began a Pennsylvania speaking tour to increase Republican voter registration. He called the state the election’s “linchpin.”
Elon Musk said, “How Pennsylvania goes is how the election goes.”
Before Pennsylvania’s voter registration process expires Monday night, sign the petition. To get pay, petition signatories “must be registered voters of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, or Wisconsin,” according to the America PAC website.
Rick Hasen, UCLA law professor and News election law specialist, believes Elon Musk’s idea violates federal election regulations. He quoted a regulation that specifies anyone who “pays or offers to pay or accepts payment either for registration to vote or for voting shall be fined not more than $10,000 or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.”
Hasen, “In this country, certain things can be sold, and certain things we have decided shouldn’t be for sale.” “We shouldn’t let the wealthy influence your vote. Congress says you can’t sell your vote to the highest bidder.”
Conspiracy theories abound
Musk has promoted deregulation, debunked voter fraud conspiracy theories, and called Trump’s opponent, Kamala Harris, and President Biden “puppets” during pro-Trump rallies.
Musk said Saturday, “No one’s even bothering to try to kill Kamala, you know, because there’s no point.” The secret service was alerted to his earlier comment. “Not that anyone should kill her—that’s foolish. My quick observation. Musk voiced his opinion that many American government offices and laws are unnecessary and unproductive during his travels.
Trump said Elon Musk would be helpful in a government efficiency council.
Actually, we shouldn’t trust the government. We shouldn’t “Harrisburg told Elon Musk. “Don’t trust the government, even if I work for it.”
Even though his companies have long relied on government funding and support, Musk has criticized the FCC, EPA, FAA, and NOAA Fisheries for holding SpaceX back. We get insane stuff,” Elon Musk said. SpaceX was fined $140,000 for dumping drinking water at Starbase.”
As CNBC revealed, SpaceX violated the Clean Water Act by repeatedly dumping hot, industrial wastes into the marshes surrounding its Boca Chica, Texas launch pad.
Josh Shapiro, Pennsylvania’s Democratic governor, told NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday that Musk’s idea to fund state-registered voters is “deeply concerning” and “something that law enforcement could take a look at.” Musk mocked NOAA Fisheries for proposing that SpaceX study the consequences of its rockets on whales and sharks if they fall into the water.
I assume there are many sharks in that big ocean. Though unlikely, it’s feasible “Musk said. The agency aims to “conserve America’s coastal and marine resources”. Musk became more angry with President Biden in 2021 when the White House rejected Tesla’s electric vehicle meeting invitation.
“It’s like there’s a lot of blood, sweat, and tears from people working hard to make great electric cars,” Elon Musk said. “You know, Tesla employs about 140,000 people.” Unjustified lack of support. What the heck is going on?”
Musk has long opposed unions, and Tesla was accused of breaking union laws before the EV summit. Biden has maintained his pro-labor stance throughout his presidency. Should self-driving cars be necessary when they surpass human drivers in traffic? Harrisburg participants asked Elon Musk about that. Customers have never received a Tesla “robotaxi,” despite years of promises.
Elon Musk seems against all federal mandates.
He said “Let the market figure it out and let the government get out of the way.” Generally, I oppose government. Thanks to everyone who attended. Speaking with you was a pleasure.
Musk only briefly mentioned Trump’s policies and record as president during the evening.
