Taylor Lautner is unaffected by negativity.

When confronted with criticism about his appearance that just surfaced on Instagram, the Twilight alum didn’t hold back. Taylor even published some cruel comments, including one that said he “did not age well,” to start a conversation about mental health.

“If this was 10 years ago, five years ago, maybe even two, three years ago, that would have really gotten under my skin,” he remarked in a video posted on May 22. “It would have made me want to hide in a hole rather than go outside.”

However, the 31-year-old stated that he is now “in a different place” and is no longer in an “unhealthy position” in which he concentrates on the “wrong things.”

“You find value wherever you put it,” Taylor says. “And if you base your worth on what other people think of you, that’s how you’ll feel.” But if you place your value in knowing who you are, what matters to you, and what you enjoy, that stuff won’t bother you.”

Taylor Lautner is unaffected by negativity.

“My biggest point is to think about and remember where you put your value in life and be nice,” he continued. It isn’t all that difficult. Let’s be nice to one another. Let us spread love and happiness. It’s as easy as that.”

Other harmful remarks Taylor wrote in a report were that he “looks like old broccoli” and has “aged like a sultana.”

On the other hand, Taylor received an outpouring of support in the comments area of his post.

“‘It doesn’t make me question who I am,'” wrote the actor’s wife, Taylor Lautner, echoing one of his statements from the video. “God, I love you.”

Meanwhile, Clayton Echard of Bachelor Nation, who has been open about his body dysmorphia issue, applauded Taylor for his vulnerability. “People need to realise the weight of their words, and it doesn’t help that there’s often no accountability when it comes to social media,” he wrote. “Your sharing will help others understand the power of their words, and perhaps next time they’ll think twice before hitting send.”

Taylor has previously spoken openly about his battles with mental health. On a February edition of his podcast, The Squeeze, the actor discussed how being shirtless in the Twilight film series caused his body image issues.

“When I was in it, when I was 16 through 20 years old, starring in this franchise where my character is known for taking his shirt off every other second,” he explained. “I had no idea it was affecting or would affect my body image in the future, but now that I think about it, of course it did, and of course it will.”

Taylor recounted being “forced to be in a gym multiple times a day, six days a week” while producing and experiencing criticism over his less muscular body when the franchise concluded in 2012.

“I was filming a movie called Run The Tide, and my character isn’t supposed to be a bodybuilder or ripped guy in any way.” “I thought I looked okay,” he recalled. “They put side-by-sides of me shirtless in the ocean in a scene from that movie compared to me in Eclipse or whatever and being like, ‘Wow, he’s let it all go.'”

Taylor admitted that the similarities “messed with me” for years but that he now “sees things differently.”

“Your body can look incredible, you can be ripped, shredded, whatever you want to lose weight, put on muscle,” he continued, “but if you’re not mentally healthy, then it’s all for naught because that can work against you.”

CANNES, France — The Cannes Film Festival began Tuesday with the announcement of Greta Gerwig’s jury and the giving of an honorary Palme d’Or to Meryl Streep, as the French Riviera spectacle started its possibly tumultuous 77th edition.

The opening night picture, “The Second Act,” a French comedy starring Lea Seydoux, Vincent Lindon, Louis Garrel, and Raphaël Quenard, will usher in a 10-day parade of stars down Cannes’ iconic red carpet. During the opening ceremony, Streep will get her honorary Palme.

However, much of this year’s Cannes controversy has occurred off-screen.

French actor Judith Godrèche accused two film directors of rape and sexual assault when she was a teenager earlier this year, and the French film industry has been grappling with probably its defining #MeToo moment since. Godrèche’s short film “Moi Aussi” will premiere on Wednesday.

When asked about #MeToo’s expansion in France, Gerwig told reporters in Cannes on Tuesday that it is progressing.

“I think people in the community of movies telling us stories and trying to change things for the better is only good,” Gerwig stated. “I’ve witnessed significant shift in the American cinema scene, and I believe it’s critical that we continue to broaden that conversation. So I believe it’s only advancing things in the right direction. Keep the lines of communication open.”

Gerwig, fresh off the success of “Barbie,” is president of the jury that will decide Cannes’ top prize, the Palme d’Or. Thierry Fremaux commended her on Monday as “the ideal director” for Cannes, citing her ability to work in both arthouse and studio films and her passion for movie history. And, “We very much liked ‘Barbie.'”

Gerwig is joined on the jury by Lily Gladstone, star of “Killers of the Flower Moon,” French actor Eva Green, Spanish filmmaker J.A. Bayona, French actor Omar Sy, Lebanese actor and director Nadine Labaki, Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda, Turkish screenwriter Ebru Ceylan, and Italian actor Pierfrancesco Favino.

“I thought I just got over my imposter syndrome last year,” admitted the Oscar-nominated Gladstone. “But I’ll start all over again.”

The jurors were asked how the numerous real-world concerns outside the festival would influence their decision-making. One film in competition, Ali Abbasi’s “The Apprentice,” portrays Sebastian Stan as a youthful Donald Trump. And Labaki was asked if she was thinking about the war in Gaza.

“I truly believe that one of the tools to really change something in the situation we all live in right now, which is a situation I think is not that great, is really through art and through cinema,” Labaki stated. “It may propose a more tolerant way of seeing things and seeing each other as human beings.”

According to Favino, filmmakers have a vital role in reminding the world of where beauty can be found.

“This is why I decided that I could be here without feeling guilty as a human being,” stated Favino. “Because if we look for beauty, then we might look for peace.”

Other fears are circulating this year’s Cannes. Festival workers, frustrated with short-term contracts that make them ineligible for unemployment benefits between events, have threatened to strike.

On Monday, Iranian filmmaker Mohammed Rasoulof, whose film “The Seed of the Sacred Fig” will be shown in competition at Cannes next week, said that he had escaped Iran after being sentenced to eight years in prison and flogging. The film is described as a scathing depiction of the Iranian regime.

The time has arrived to lift the red Solo cup. Jason Aldean will honor the late Toby Keith at the 2024 Academy of Country Music Awards.

The 59th ACM Awards, hosted by Reba McEntire, will be held Thursday at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, just north of Dallas.

Keith has won 14 ACM Awards in his career, including the title of Entertainer of the Year twice. He died in February at the age of 62 after being diagnosed with stomach cancer.
