Cardi B Speaks Out After Controversial Dalai Lama Video
Cardi B is urging parents to exercise caution when it comes to protecting their children.
The 30-year-old rapper turned to Twitter to urge people to teach their children to be wary of predators less than a day after the Dalai Lama apologized for a viral video involving a young boy.
“This world is full of predators,” Cardi said on April 10 in a tweet that did not reference the spiritual leader. “They prey on the helpless. Our youngsters are the ones who are the most ignorant. Predators may be our neighbors, instructors, or even people with money, influence, or connections to our churches. Talk to your children frequently about limits and what they should not allow others to do to them.”
Cardi—who has two children with Offset, Kulture, 4, and Wave, 19 months—revealed her house rules in a second tweet, saying, “No sleepovers, nothing!!!”
“From the time you start potty training your kids, you should tell them DON’T LET nobody touch your privates, enter the bathroom with you, and don’t keep no secrets from mommy,” she added.
Later that day, she shared a news piece about the Dalai Lama apologizing for his behavior, which she captioned, “Man, I’m telling yall.”
Cardi’s remarks came a day after a disturbing video of the Dalai Lama attempting to kiss a toddler.
“It was deep in my heart to talk about this because my friend and I were talking about it last night,” Cardi explained in another tweet. “Then there was the Dalai Lama thing this morning.”
Cardi’s remarks came a day after a disturbing video of the Dalai Lama attempting to kiss a toddler on the lips went viral. In the video, a young kid asks the spiritual leader, “Can I hug you?” The Dalai Lama then pulls the boy on stage and hugs and kisses him.
The Dalai Lama then points to his lips and says, “I think I’m finally here,” before bringing the boy’s chin up and kissing him, adding, “And suck my tongue.”
Since then, the 87-year-old has apologized for his behavior.
In a tweet on April 10, the Dalai Lama’s office said, “His Holiness wishes to apologize to the boy and his family, as well as his many friends around the world, for any hurt his words may have caused.”
The message finished by implying that the Nobel Peace Prize laureate was joking with the kid.
“In public and front of cameras, His Holiness frequently teases people he meets innocently and playfully,” the statement read. He is sorry for what happened.”
