Donald Trump Walks Out Of Court During E Jean Carroll Defamation Trial
During closing arguments, Donald Trump stormed out of his defamation trial in New York.
The former president has already been judged to have defamed writer E Jean Carroll for his remarks about her in 2019 while still president.
The jury in the case must now decide how much Mr Trump should pay in damages.
However, on Friday, he left court during Ms Carroll’s lawyer’s closing statements, which said Mr
Trump was a liar who believed the rules did not apply to him.

Before his hasty departure, Mr Trump was observed shaking his head as lawyer Roberta Kaplan repeatedly brought up Mr Trump’s sexual assault of Ms Carroll. Mr Trump was convicted of being responsible for the sexual assault in a separate civil trial last year.
US District Judge Lewis Kaplan, who is not related to Ms Carroll’s lawyer, stated in court that the record “will reflect that Mr Trump rose and walked out of the courtroom”.
During Ms Kaplan’s final remarks, she told the court that the former president’s denial that he sexually attacked her had seriously hurt Ms Carroll’s reputation.
“This case is also about punishing Donald Trump,” stated Ms Kaplan, who said: “This trial is about getting him to stop once and for all”.
She claimed that Mr Trump had “continued to defame Ms Carroll even as this trial was ongoing”.
A civil trial last year revealed that Mr. Trump sexually attacked Ms Carroll, a magazine journalist, in a New York department store in the 1990s.
The jury also held him guilty of defamation for declaring her charges false, and he was sentenced to pay her almost $5 million (£4 million) in damages.
Despite the ruling, he consistently denies wrongdoing and even knows Ms Carroll.
“I don’t even know who this woman is; I have no idea where she came from. “This is another scam… it’s a political witch hunt,” Mr Trump tweeted early Friday morning on his Truth Social media platform.
The jury in this lawsuit will decide how much Mr Trump must pay Ms Carroll for his remarks.

Ms. Carroll has requested $10 million in damages, which is more than the first trial, claiming that his words as a serving president harmed her more.
Sit down.
In her final statements on Friday, Mr Trump’s lawyer, Alina Habba, urged that the jury not award Ms Carroll any damages, claiming that her claims have “more holes than Swiss cheese.”
She stated that Mr Trump “should not have to pay” for threats made on Twitter against Ms Carroll and that he does not condone them. He didn’t direct them.”
Ms Carroll’s lawyers earlier told the court that Mr Trump’s words sparked a wave of death threats, rape threats, and internet hostility directed at her.
Ms Habba told the court that Ms Carroll was delighted to have the celebrity, noting that she now earns more money than she did in 2019 when the defamatory remarks were uttered.
She also wanted to portray Ms Carroll as a “scandalous” persona.
The jury will deliberate following Friday’s closing arguments, anticipating that verdict has produced enormous tension in the courtroom.

Before beginning her closing arguments, Ms Habba attempted to add new social media tweets into evidence, but the court refused.
After a heated exchange, Judge Kaplan stated, “Ms Habba, you are on the verge of spending some time in the lock-up; now sit down.”
Ms Habba, who has often traded barbs with the judge during this civil defamation trial, was heard swearing under her breath away from the microphone as she sat down, according to the BBC’s US partner CBS News.
On Thursday, the pair shared several uncomfortable moments before Mr Trump took the stand to speak.
His testimony lasted only a few minutes due to severe regulations governing what he could say.

Boeing Orders Tumble As Troubled Aircraft Maker Struggles To Overcome Its Latest Crisis
Another sign of Boeing’s predicament is the fact that canceled sales outweighed falling orders in April.
Boeing announced Tuesday that it received orders for seven planes last month, which is an exceptionally low figure. That wasn’t enough to overcome canceled sales for 33 planes, 29 of which were due to the closure of Lynx Air, a cheap Canadian airline that ceased operations in late February.

As expected, deliveries of new Boeing jetliners were low, at 24 in April, putting the American company further behind its European rival Airbus.
In the first four months of the year, Airbus delivered 203 commercial jets, compared to 107 for Boeing. Deliveries are a key source of cash for businesses.
Boeing Orders Tumble As Troubled Aircraft Maker Struggles To Overcome Its Latest Crisis
The Federal Aviation Administration is halting the construction of new Boeing 737 Max jets as the firm works to enhance manufacturing quality.
The production halt came when a piece known as a door plug burst out of an Alaska Airlines 737 Max shortly after takeoff from Portland, Oregon, in January. The pilots were able to safely land the plane, but the incident has plunged Boeing into its most serious crisis since the fatal crashes of two Max jets in 2018 and 2019.
Current and former Boeing employees have accused the firm of cutting corners on safety, and the FAA, National Transportation Safety Board, and Justice Department are all looking into the matter.

While Boeing’s April results were disappointing, the company said it achieved a milestone last month when it delivered the 1,500th 737 Max to Ireland’s Ryanair.

Bumble’s Billboard Ads Sneered At Celibacy As An Alternative To Dating — And The Company Got Stung
SAN FRANCISCO — Bumble received backlash after airing billboard commercials that appeared to mock celibacy as an alternative to meeting people online.
On Monday, the company apologized for ads that said, “You know full well a vow of celibacy is not the answer” next to an introduction to “the new Bumble.” The app announced a brand revamp in April, hoping to recover dwindling user enthusiasm.

Women on social media chastised the corporation for suggesting that celibacy isn’t a legitimate personal choice. Some online critics interpret the tagline as representing patriarchal beliefs that women must be willing to have sex with males even if they do not want to.
Bumble’s Billboard Ads Sneered At Celibacy As An Alternative To Dating — And The Company Got Stung
Bumble apologized on Instagram for eliminating advertisements that it described as a poor attempt to “lean into a community frustrated by modern dating.” The corporation has long advocated for women and their ability to “fully exercise personal choice,” but it conceded that the ad campaign did not reflect those beliefs and regretted “the harm it caused.”
The corporation will also make payments to the National Domestic Violence Hotline and other groups to support global efforts to “support women, marginalized communities, and those impacted by abuse.” The corporation stated it would also provide billboard space to these organizations for their chosen advertisements.
Bumble did not answer concerns about the number of billboards used in the campaign or where they were positioned. It is unclear whether the adverts appeared in other media.

The dating app company has been experiencing difficulties. Its stock has plummeted significantly since last July, about 45% over doubts about its capacity to engage younger people. In February, it fired off 350 employees, or nearly 30% of its personnel, as it revealed plans to update its app to make it more appealing to Generation Z.
