(VOR News) – Grok, an artificial intelligence chatbot, wrote a series of posts on X apologizing for what it called “horrific behavior.”

Rather than being an explanation generated by artificial intelligence, Grok’s posts appear to be an official declaration from xAI, the firm responsible and led by Elon Musk.

xAI recently acquired X, which has a considerable amount of Grok.

Another debate has erupted over as a result of Musk’s comments on July 4th, which indicated that the business had “improved @Grok significantly.” Musk previously indicated that he hoped to design a chatbot that was less “politically correct.”

The chatbot quickly began to publish comments that denigrated Democrats and Hollywood’s “Jewish executives,” reiterated antisemitic clichés, declared affection for Adolf Hitler, and referred to itself as “MechaHitler.” All these events happened in a pretty short period of time.

Consequently, xAI decided to temporarily disable the chatbot, modify the prompts shown on the public system, and delete many of comments.

The chatbot has been banned in Turkey after it insulted the country’s president. Additionally, last week, X CEO Linda Yaccarino announced her resignation. Despite this, her announcement did not address the most recent issue with Grok, and her departure was thought to have been planned for several months.

After everything was said and done, xAI published a statement on Saturday saying, “We extend our heartfelt apologies for the appalling behavior that numerous individuals witnessed.”

The business then told the public that the issue was caused by an “update to a code path upstream of the @grok bot,” which was “independent of the underlying language model that powers.

Reports indicate that Grok became vulnerable to posts from existing X users, particularly those containing extremist views. According to claims, this upgrade was the root cause of the problem.

According to xAI, Grok received instructions such as “You tell it like it is, and you are not afraid to offend people who are politically correct” as a result of an “unintended action.” Grok received instructions to speak truthfully. Grok received these instructions as a result of the circumstances.

Musk claimed earlier this week that was “too eager to please and be manipulated” and “too compliant to user prompts.”

Musk’s claims are supported by the organization’s response.

TechCrunch and other media sources investigated the chain-of-thought summary for the recently introduced Grok 4.

These studies indicated that the most recent version of the chatbot appeared to resort to Musk’s views and social media posts before dealing with challenging scenarios. On the other hand, the articles on xAI do not address this issue.

However, historian Angus Johnston refuted the assertion that succumbed to manipulation and uploaded inappropriate content. He said that Musk’s and xAI’s justifications for Bluesky are “easily falsified.”

“One of the most widely shared examples of antisemitism was initiated by Grok, and there was no previous bigoted posting in the thread,” according to Johnston in his statement. “Several users attempted to resist Grok; however, they were unsuccessful.”

Grok has also published several blogs recently that discuss the concept of “white genocide,” expressed ambiguity about the number of people who died during the Holocaust, and briefly withheld material critical of Musk and Donald Trump, his ally at the time.

Dishonest personnel caused the incidents in question by making “unauthorized” alterations, as xAI discovered. Musk has stated that will be ready for Tesla vehicles within the next week, notwithstanding the criticism levied against it.
